I cant speak for you folks in the UK but if there was any band that deserved to be called the most underrated band of the 1980's it was definitely Gene Loves Jezebel, at least that's how I feel here in the USA. These guys were awesome and why they didn't make a bigger impact over here is a mystery! I guess I can chalk it up to lack of airplay. I remember I was in Camelot music back in the summer of '86 and this song came on the PA and immediately caught my ear. I listened to about 2 more tracks from the album and was compelled to find out who this was. The girl behind the counter told me the name "Gene Loves Jezebel" and I immediately had to have the cassette. I have been a dedicated fan of this band ever since.

I love how they're all glammed out, and then the drummer's kinda looking like Anthony Michael Hall in "Sixteen Candles."

Oh! my goodness. I love this song. A Dj used to play this song as soon as he would see me and my friend walk into this club.

The drummer to the rest of the band: "Guys, I know you wanted to go for the hair metal look, but it's it cool of I just do my own thing?" The rest of the band: "Yeah, that should be fine."

Anthony Kiedis and Flea saw these guys in concert when they were first starting out. They left the venue, both quiet. Anthony asks Flea: "You thinking what I'm thinking?" Flea: "That what's the point..?" Anthony: "Yeah." That's how blown away they were by these guys live show.

the 80's scene had to be experienced and lived as it occurred. it can not be reinvented there is no modern music today that comes close to the artist's of the 80's thank God I was in High School in California in 1985 and middle school in Germany.
