I cant speak for you folks in the UK but if there was any band that deserved to be called the most underrated band of the 1980's it was definitely Gene Loves Jezebel, at least that's how I feel here in the USA. These guys were awesome and why they didn't make a bigger impact over here is a mystery! I guess I can chalk it up to lack of airplay.
I remember I was in Camelot music back in the summer of '86 and this song came on the PA and immediately caught my ear. I listened to about 2 more tracks from the album and was compelled to find out who this was. The girl behind the counter told me the name "Gene Loves Jezebel" and I immediately had to have the cassette. I have been a dedicated fan of this band ever since.

Sure they were pretty boys but they had some great songs a great guitar player and they rocked live, saw them 3 times back in the day one of my fave 80's bands, way underrated.

the 80's scene had to be experienced and lived as it occurred.
it can not be reinvented there is no modern music today that comes close to the artist's of the 80's thank God I was in High School in California in 1985 and middle school in Germany.
