Tennessee Ernie Ford did an excellent version of this song too, though quite different!

The 78 rpm Mercury record of this song I have has "Black Lace" on the flip. May be a later release

This was one of my favorite songs as a child. My dad had it on a 45. I played it so much my dad was afraid I'd wear it out.

My neighbor and I as kids found this, I think it was a 78 record in the garage and played the hell out of it. Nice to know other people can hear it here, it, hear it here, it, oooh....damn! skip in my brain!

Yes, "Hell Bent For Leather" was made in 1961 I bought my copy the day it came out. The Mule Train that was on your album was a remake from this album and not the Mercury Hit version of 1949.

This came out when I was about 10, about 1950. It must have been in the colder months of the year. We had a wood burning stove in the kitchen and I remember singing this song while I was taking the wood upstairs from the basement. It was my very first "favorite song".

I remember this from the 1950s. My dad always encouraged us to listen to music, and he'd tell us as much as he could about the singers.

This was one of my father's favorite songs when he was  young, thank you so much for posting this. It reminds me of my Dad, God rest his soul.

Haven't heard this song in probably 25 years. I used to listen to it with my grandmother. Woke up singing it and here it is! Thanks!

I made up a parody of this song. "My heart knew what the catman knew, and I can do what the Kathmandu. "

That album you had had a remake of "Wild Goose" that Frankie recorded for his "Hell Bent For Leather" Album that he made for Columbia in 1961.
