This was my favorite on this album, So clever! Had the honor of doing a writing session with Adam... what an amazing talent he was.

Adam just wants some coffee - and service like he gets in New York. Definitely not too much to ask.

Does anyone get a Steely Dan-vibe from this song?

A perfect song. Dig the Barry White sounding guitar with the wah between the verses. Funny lyrics, everyone can relate..... Great piano hook, harmonies are flawless. Very underrated band.

The chord changes are complex, and the song is so funny it always makes me smile. I love the title -- Halley's could be the name of the restaurant, but is also an obvious reference to Halley's comet, which comes around only once in every 75 years...haha

not sure it Steely Dan-ish, but its got that late 70s feel in places. Theres even a very basic latin feel in verse 2 with the vibes , percussion and pizzicato strings. Plus you've got English or French horns against Adams Vocal hook, with high strings on top... no one does this now. I hear abit of Toto in there...chordally, its mature and maybe why some think of Don Fagen and his jazz chords with odd bass notes..creating harmonic tension over sweet melodies.

Was first blown away by this song in Park City in early 2003 and has been my favourite FOW song since then. Tragic that Adam Scheslinger is gone.

This whole CD is EXCELLENT...and yes, this song is hilarious...singing longingly for the mundane.

Great song. I wouldn't read too much into it, though. I think these guys enjoy writing songs about everyday thoughts and feelings. They probably had a slow waitress once, comically referred to her as Halley's Waitress (only comes around once every 76 years, like the comet) and decided it might be fun. One of their strengths is composing arrangements that are often ironically contrary to the lyrics.
