Hearing Eddie again makes me miss KKGO. The piano sounds like a cheap upright, perfect for this tune.

I just discovered this through listening to a jazz playlist. I'm a little surprised this isn't more of a jazz standard! Jazz could use a little more humor! Does anyone know if Horace Silver recorded a version with the lyrics?

Such a shame that he was killed in my hometown, in 1979. We loved him.

My life is complete now that I found this song. I have very specific memories of being 9 years old in 1982, NYC, and my dad playing this TO DEATH in the car everytime he drove me to school. He must've only had about 5 songs on that tape, and this was one.

I mean what can you say...........Pure Genius.  Especially love him with Richie Cole.  I am also a long time fan of James Moody, but a couple of cuts he did with RC were priceless :)

One of my favorite vocalists!   I use to drive from DC to Philly some weekends to catch Don Patterson & Billy James.  I had a eight track tape with Horace Silver and Andy Bey.  Eddie, Andy and Johnny Hartman are three of my favorites.
