Goodman is good indeed but the star of this performance is Teddy Wilson, before he got himself psycho-analysed, which destroyed the joie de vivre and creativity of his playing.

George and Ira Gershwin wrote the song in 1924. It was introduced in the Broadway musical Lady! Be Good! starring Fred and Adele Astaire which ran for 330 performances. This 1935 recording is by the Benny Goodman Trio. It is trite to note that, in addition to Benny Goodman, the other members are Teddy Wilson on piano and Gene Krupa on drums.
