In my solitude
You haunt me
With reveries of days gone by
In my solitude
You taunt me With memories that never die
In my solitude
I’m praying
Dear Lord above
Send back my love
I sit in my chair
I’m filled with despair
'Cause no one could be so sad
With gloom everwhere
I sit and I stare
I know that I’ll soon go mad
In my solitude
I’m praying
Dear Lord above
Send back my love
gosh this recording brings such contentment. i ended up having such a down and disappointing day, and didn't know if anything could help alleviate my pain.
and then, i remembered:
BEN WEBSTER. :-D
so, i turned on his music, and let it sweep me away...from the sorrows of the world.
Over the hours, his music has helped decrease my ache from a 10 to 4. That's truly remarkable. Wish I could have his sax as an continuous IV. :-D
Thank you, Ben. Your delivery is still healing people-- even 46 years after your passing.
That is quite a legacy, my dear. xo
Hard to argue with that beautiful ballad rendition of one of Duke's early hits. Great stuff! But I read about an album recorded with all non-copyrighted songs that Ben did in Europe, and I never can find it. It had old gospel tunes and such, funded I believe by some grocery store, but I don't recall the album name. It was in a foreign language, something like Ben op ist (something or other). I'd love to hear that some day.
