His songs first helped me back in the early 90's when I was very depressed, but I know that heaven has a very giving soul....

Al Jarreau was one of the greatest vocalist of modern times.  He made so many beautiful and instant masterpieces.  The songs were his canvases and his voice was his paintbrush!

My Dad did his practice teaching at Milwaukee Lincoln in the spring of 1957(? - or was it 58?). Al was his first favorite student. I think I met Al that spring - I was about 2 and very unimpressed hahaha! We followed his career from afar - but I really fell in love with his 1980 album "This Time."  Saw him on TV the other night with Tavis Smiley. Still magnificently elegant and charming.

What could be more audacious than taking musical material from a brilliant classical guitar concerto, and turning it into a proto-fusion latin-Jazz staple of equal brilliance? Oh, I dunno... How about deciding that that audacious adaptation needed lyrics, so that it could be sung? So the singer who wanted to sing it wrote the lyrics, and then proved, with this recording, that he was probably the only singer who COULD sing it. When Audacity begets Audacity (in the company of Brilliance), we are all the richer for it, are we not?

Folks, there's no need to keep posting the lyrics to this song. They're already in the description.

Mr. Jarreau's voice is soooo distinct! When he sings it's like his voice just reaches those obscure places in your soul and fills a void and then you feel complete! He is just so magnificent.
