Beautiful melodic lines here. And I love Nasser’s tone. Thanks for sharing this.

That is one hell of a bass solo! And great stuff by Al Haig too.

Al was Bird's and Getz's pianist of choice, be it, Be Bop, Cool, Hard Bop, Straight Ahead as a Sideman or Leader he is as good as they get. On one of Miles recorded interviews he was asked if African American Musicians were better than White Musicians. Miles replied no, they are just different. In my opinion Asian Musicians (Hako Yamasaki - Wandering is a sample of Pure Japanese Soul-Blues to my mind) seem to be different too but I believe that Soul expression, although equally fervent, can vary between different race ethnicity, depending on with whom they studied, practiced, played and so forth. When Getz was asked about this question he broke into a wining smile and said, when ever I try to play Black (I assume he meant BLUES) it comes out Jewish. Blues is some kind of African expression that most other guys would give their eye teeth to be able to express. It must be in the genes. Having said that it's all good and after all Be Bop is not necessarily always steeped in Blues. None the less Trane implied that all tenor players would sound like Getz if they could. Go and figure! ;-)

Al Haig is definitely the most under rated and overlooked jazz pianists.

Bird and Bud didn't care for each other. Genius conflict no doubt. Al Haig was Bird's and Getz's Pianist of choice during the Bop / Cool (Getz) years. Al was a Caucasin (white so called) Be Bop Pianist among other idioms.

"I said Al Haig!" An irritated Bud Powell answering the question what pianists he liked.
