Heh, did a little digging and found out that the "Hamilton" he is referring to in this song is the Hamilton Watch Company. They were the first to create the digital LED wrist watch in the early 1970's, and effectively were the reason wound wrist watches went out of style. Kinda interesting. It's also interesting to note that, even though LED wrist watches were quite expensive, they nevertheless grew in popularity, for the ease of use, and the ease in which you could tell the time.

As someone who dismantles clocks on an almost daily basis, I find this quite ironic xD

My mom heard me listening to this and thought it was "the death of the dog"

Was playing this the other day, not realizing my headphones had popped out, my friend was confused, she thought I listened to heavy metal.

Personally, I still carry around a pocket watch, chain and all, even when I'm not dressed up in steampunk fashion. I like pocket watches, and if anyone has a problem with that, then they can tell it to my flintlock and saber.

...I use both clockwork and digital in my steampunk. What does that make me?

I love this song, the voice is passionate, the lyrics are awesome, and I can tell the people making this enjoyed doing so.

Bioshock is what first started my love of steampunk, and it just kept growing from there.

Steampunk has to be one of the most underrated genres of music there is.

There was a girl in one of my classes freshman year and she could hardly read an analog clock. -_- I learned to read an analog clock long before digital, in fact, the first time I remember seeing a digital clock was in kindergarten. We have true analog clock on a fireplace mantle, it has a clear face and I remember taking it down when I was younger just so I could sit and watch the cogs spin. Clockwork is probably the best example of beauty and functionality coming together as one.

Ironic: The Hamilton Watch Company doesn't make digital watches anymore.

Unpopular opinion time: Clockwork really is beautiful and I love cogs too, but digital clocks are wonders as well, man. All those circuits and wires all working together to produce one whole. Electricity and metal harnessed to show time, something humans have applied to reality anyway. They're different, but they're both beautiful and both something we should be proud of. Still love the song though, lol.

I can imagine a disgruntled and slightly mad watchmaker singing this.

Oh, Mr. Hamilton, what have you done? Look at this terrible trend you've begun! You make me sick, you contemptible dog, I blame you for the death of the cog! Clocks used to be such magnificent things Beautiful sprockets and dazzling springs But you gave the people your digital beast And in turn now all gears are deceased How things have changed from when I was a boy! Clockwork would tick and would bring me much joy But, with your advent, there's no need to wind-- Everything charming has been left behind! Oh, Mr. Hamilton, you dirty fiend Your modern timepiece is cruel and obscene! I was a lover of gears great and small They all were my friends and you've murdered them all! Aaaahhh... How could a person commit such a crime-- To murder immaculate keepers of time? Why should a person so foul get away? Hamilton, you're gonna pay! So, Mr. Hamilton, just watch your back Hide all those digital clocks on your rack They'll soon end up smashed to bits in a bog Because you, you, you, you, YOU Caused the DEATH OF THE COG! Aaaahhh...
