I loved Michael's voice then and I do now, this was when music was written with verse and chorus.  I met and had a drink with Michael in Jersey at his summer season at Pontins Holiday Camp which it then was, sadly his last season in show business. I agree with Future Atom, why oh why Mike, thousands loved you, he actually met his own idol Bing Crosby who invited him to his home in the USA. Rest in peace Michael I bought most of your records, this one I played over and over and over. Wonderful memories of better times. Clive Mainwaring S/W France

the best version, no disrespect to Marty Robins, who was also great.

This record has stayed with me all my life and I'm 83 now.. I was devastated when he died . In those days music was music! we all knew the words and many enjoyed singing along with the artists . Not much chance that this can happen in the future. Weren't we so lucky!

One of the first songs that Burt Bacharach sold; first recorded by Marty Robbins in 1957, backed by the Ray Conniff Singers...

Such a pity this singer never sang a lot more songs than he did, great voice, always loved this song, is best in my opinion.

My father had an album with him and Bing Crosby. It was difficult to tell their voices apart. I'm so sorry that we lost him.
