The voice and the man still have magic!

When I was about 3 years old I remember my sister playing this on her wind up in the early 50s and I couldn't work out why I'd tear up. It was the pure emotion of this song and must have been one of the main reasons I made recordings my career.

When i was young my daddy loved to play Mario Lansa songs mostly.I heard him sang everyday so i grew up with the love of apera songs start from this greatest Mario Lansa and he sang many beatiful songs in those days.These songs will never die from our heart through eternity.

This coming November will mark 50 years since the passing of Mario Lanza.

I just love this song by the great Mario Lanza! He never appeared in The Student Prince-I would have bought the dvd of this but did not do so without Mario Lanza-that fiasco ruined his career and shortened his life-the tradgedy of the century!!

Too beautiful for words. One of Lanza's relatively few non-operatic recordings that I truly love. So much feeling :'( :-o

Incredible beauty

This arietta that Lanza is singing is in the operetta "The Student Prince" by Sigmund Romberg. So it is operatic.I was in a production of "Prince" - Summer of 1995 with Summer Opera of Washington, D.C. I was a bartender but got to sing all the male chorus pieces along with the students. Raymond Very sang Karl in our production. Whenever he sang this and some others, I thought back to Mario Lanza singing on that wonderful LP he did of this operetta. I still have that recording.Bravo!

One of my Mum's favourite songs. She adored Mario. Played at her funeral. Lovely memories of sharing Sunday afternoons with her and her beloved Mario on the turntable. Thanks for sharing.

Such a beautiful voice! My Dad was in a nursing home for the last month of his life. I'd go to visit him and his roommate and play music for them on my phone. They waited for me to come and play for them the music they loved from their youth. It was the most rewarding thing I've ever done in my life and im glad that I could make them happy in their last days.
