There was madness to her music. Some songs tip-toed gently as fairy’s feet on flower petals; others stomped like a ghetto gang charging down an alley—and any one of her song’s could do both. Her lyrics could be glints of sparkling sunlight bouncing off flowing melodies or heavy hail pounding a tin roof or mournful tears washing away dreams. Upbeat as a picnic in Central Park. Dark as Satan’s heart. Jazzy. Soaring. Crashing. Floating. Churning. Folksy. Broadway. Soul. Funk. Rock. Gospel. A poetic muse. A alluring siren. A gutter cussing waif. Her creations were the ultimate synthesis of mind-soul-hand. They should have named a new genre of music just for her: Stream of Consciousness music.

Love you so much, Laura, Thank you for every note you ever offered up, Listening to you this morning-45 years later-- and you sound as good today as you did when I was surfing the tides of bliss and angst at 16. You are forever in me

It really pissed me off that it took me so long to discover Laura. I think my wife thinks I have a mistress. She is right, Laura is my song mistress. Love this song.

I feel the same way; you put it beautifully. And fortunately, I was able to see her perform twice in Berkeley in the early 1970s.

Being a child of the 60s & 70s means i virtually wore out my original Laura Nyro LPs. Nice to see her reaching a new generation.

I love this song even more now than the day the LP came out, when I was in my early college days. Laura Nyro is my all-time favorite female singer/songwriter/poet/performer. I Feel so blessed to have had many of her albums & spent many happy years with them on full blast while I grew past my formative years. . .to become an afficianado of similarly unique talent. Still, Laura is & always will be in a class all her own. An angelic gift...lent to us but for a short while...a genius beyond measure.

Who wouldn't want to find a soul like that, an artist, to be with forever?

I heard Laura used to play spots in Greenwich village. You would see Joni invariably in the audience. That was several years before Joni made her mark when she emigrated to the West Coast. Who influenced whom?

You're right. This song lead me to "New York Tendaberry". I was hopelessly addicted to her by that point. "'I'm ageless, loving you timelessly.'It's like a hiku". How perfectly put. I learned more about poetry from her than I did from many of my English teachers.
