God, this one brings back memories! We were teenagers in Hungary during the darkest days of Communism when jazz and all sorts of Western music was forbidden and listening to Western stations on the radio could earn you a prison sentence. Not surprisingly we all listened to those stations despite the authorities' jamming stations (that actually cost more than broadcasting). One of our favourite shows was the Monday night "Schlager der Woche" - (Hit of the Week) on RIAS Berlin which broadcast from the American sector of Berlin. Must have been 1952 or 53 that this song came on air and all my friends and myself were knocked out by this beautiful, sensuous voice and this great tune. It remained our favourite for a good two years. What a pity she passed away.

I heard the clanging in the song was someone banging two glass ashtrays together.

If I remember right it was a spoon or knife on glass ashtray that made that sound?

One of my favorite oldies that I played on our old record player on a 78 back in the 40s and 50s.  I love it.

Would love to know who was in the band - it swings hard! Probably a studio band, I guess...
